We were really interested in Ami Sedghi’s article on the Guardian Datablog about which cities the world’s millionaires and billionaires live in.
Great location-based data like this, however, often makes more sense displayed on a map. With Mapsdata, and thanks to the data being available alongside the article, it took us just a few minutes to create the interactive data visualizations below, and map the cities with the most millionaires and billionaires.
The world’s millionaires:
The world’s billionaires:
The two maps show the top 20 cities for each indicator, and the bubbles correspond to the number of millionaires and billionaires (in US dollars) respectively, in each location. The data visualizations are interactive, so zoom in and out, explore the map and click on a bubble to display the full information such as the precise number of people and the city’s rank.
Let us know what you think of this visualization via Twitter (@Mapsdata) or send us an email on email@example.com. We’d love to hear your comments.
